How to find design inspiration from the colors of fall

I love fall. It is by far my favorite season. Someone told me once that most people like the season in which they were born the best. Their theory holds true in my case. Whatever season is your favorite, you have to admit that fall gives us the best color show. I mean, those leaves really go out with a bang don't they?  Also, have you ever noticed how beautiful the sky is this time of year? It almost seems to be a more vibrant and saturated blue than during other seasons.

I have created a few mood boards inspired by the gorgeous colors surrounding us right now. This is the perfect time of year to find color inspiration from nature. Typically people think only about earth tones and warm colors during fall. The leaves on the trees are shades of bright gold, orange, red. You see orange pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns on porches, along with mums in an array of reds and golds. There are also the neutral, earth tones we find in the hay bales used to decorate those porches and in the corn mazes we visit during fall.

First up is a photo I took at a corn maze we visited in West Jefferson earlier this month. It features the usual fall suspects I mentioned earlier, pumpkins, mums, hay and gourds.

Here I've put together a board showing how you could incorporate these colors into your decor. This board shows the typical color palette most people think of when considering a fall inspired palette.

We can't overlook that gorgeous Fall sky I mentioned earlier, or that bit of green that remains in the leaves. Mixing in some of those cooler colors will give your room a nice pop. This photo is a perfect example of that gorgeous sky I've been going on about.
